There’s a Russian market selling faces for BTC to bypass KYC

Online Russian vendors are promoting so-called ‘face fraud’ by selling anonymous headshots to fraudsters who want to bypass the know-your-customer ( KYC ) checks of crypto exchanges and other services. As reported by 404 Media, sellers are uploading images and videos of random, nameless citizens in exchange for Bitcoin . Fraudsters then buy these images and use them on their accounts as a means of attaching a fake identity for KYC purposes. One site, called Fotodropy Store, lists images attached to a single person for 1,390 Russian rubles ($16). The site offers various demographic options including the option to specify the gender and age of their face model.  To verify how this service works, we bought a set of videos/photos from the underground service. You select the person you want, look at a preview, pay ~$30 in BTC. Here is one of the videos. You could use to bypass a liveness check when making account https://t.co/3vjw2EOupi pic.twitter.com/PHngkxZ2vT — ...

SafeMoon team criminally charged after buying Porsche with investor funds

Braden John Karony , Kyle Nagy, and Thomas Smith have been charged with conspiracy to commit securities fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and money laundering, all linked to their roles with the SafeMoon Crypto currency project.  The criminal complaint claims that the defendants and their business, SafeMoon US LLC, lied to investors about what ‘locked’ liquidity meant and then used the money from investors to buy things like a Porsche 911 and real estate. SafeMoon marketed itself by emphasizing that it was unable to engage in a ‘rug pull’ due to the way it ‘locked’ its liquidity. However, these promises were never accurate, and Smith maintained control over the project’s liquidity pools.
