Ripple has prepared its treasury account for a significant monthly XRP selling activity. The company has reserved 300 million XRP tokens worth $145.50 million for its sell-off in July. Every month, Ripple, the largest XRP holder and entity behind the XRP Ledger development, sells part of its reserves, inflating the circulating supply. As usual, the company unlocked 1 billion XRP, worth $485 million , on July 1. Ripple dumps the remaining 100 million XRP of April’s sell-off

Ripple sold $52 million worth of 100 million XRP tokens from this month’s sell-off reserves on April 24. This dump marks the end of April’s tokens unlock, and the company prepares for May’s 1 billion XRP release. On April 1, Ripple released 1 billion of its tokens from the initial distribution, locked in monthly escrows until 2027. The company then sent 200 million XRP to its treasury account and locked the remaining 800 million in new escrows. Notably, Ripple sold the first half on April 14 amid geopolitical tensions with an escalation of the Iran-Israel conflict. This was the longest waiting period recently observed for Ripple’s monthly sell-offs, which concluded on April 24. Coinbase, a16z, Ripple pour millions into Fairshake crypto lobbying group

Mark Scott, a lawyer jailed for 20 years for laundering $400 million from the OneCoin fraud, was denied a new trial even after it was confirmed that a key government witness had lied during his trial. In denying the motion at a Sept. 18 hearing, District Judge Edgardo Ramos said he was unconvinced that “an innocent person may have been convicted.” Lawyers for Scott said they would appeal the ruling. They said they were “disappointed that the court did not grant a new trial given the undisputed evidence that the government’s sole cooperating witness perjured himself.” A key prosecution witness in Scott’s case was Konstantin Ignatov, brother of “crypto queen“ Ruja Ignatova, the mastermind behind the $4 billion OneCoin scam.
